MUSIC and STUDYING...

I wanted to use my older sister as an example for my post this week.  Growing up, I remember that my parents would be on her about turning her music off while studying.  She argued that it "helped" her study.  At the time, I thought that was a lame excuse to keep her music on, but while home last week in Australia, we talked about it as I was explaining to her my module 4 theme in this course.  I guess the music really did help her focus and study as opposed to my study habits which required absolute zero noise in the room and house!  So, I wonder what would test results be like if students had the choice to study with music on?

  1. Both of my children study with music on their CD players or their phones or on the computer. When my daughter was younger I would comment that I didn't think she could really study with the music on but she was insistant that it helped her study. I gave up and just decided it was good that she was studying.

  2. First, thank you for your comments on my blog, I am really enjoying blogging more since we are doing more interacting. And to answer your question yes I believe in gum especially for math class. I have read that it helps with concentration. My son plays the drums and the piano and bites his nails and chews a lot of gum. I don't think there is a policy allowing it at his school but he chews it every day at school. He thinks he has ADD and the gum helps him so I contribute lots of gum to his education:)
